Registered Name Oximinth Plus Boticide Oral Worm and Bot Paste for Horses Composition Each 5 mL contains oxibendazole 1 g, dichlorvos 1 g. Actions Effective against susceptible small strongyles and small strongyle larvae. It is ovicidal, thus lessening worm contamination around stables and other enclosures. Oximinth at twice the standard dose rate will knock out Strongyloides. Oximinth Plus also contains dichlorvos, therefore providing bot control. Indications Bots (Gastrophilus intestinalis, G. nasalis), red worms (Cyathostomum sp. and Triodontophorus sp.), blood worms (Strongylus sp.); pin worms (Oxyuris equi including various larval stages and Probstmayria vivipara) and roundworms (Parascaris equorum) in horses. Contraindications Administration to severely debilitated horses or those suffering from diarrhoea or severe constipation, infectious disease, toxaemia or colic; administration on an empty stomach; administration to horses with insecticides for five days prior to treatment with Oximinth Plus; administration in conjunction with or within one week of relaxant drugs, tranquillisers or CNS depressant drugs; administration to pregnant mares. If swallowed, give 1 atropine 0.6 mg tablet every five minutes until dryness of the mouth occurs. Withholding Periods Meat. 28 days. Dosage and Administration 5 mL/100 kg bodyweight. Treat every four weeks during bot fly season for the control of bots, roundworms and red worms. Treat foals twice a year from 2 months of age. Treat adult horses six to eight times a year or as recommended by a veterinarian. Place the syringe on the horse's tongue and depress the plunger to the chosen dosage. Keep the horse's mouth closed until paste has been swallowed.
