QTY:

Fel-O-Vax Lv-K

Manufacturer:  Fort Dodge Australia Pty Limited
Registered Name Fel-O-Vax Lv-K Vaccine (Inactivated)
Composition Each mL contains inactivated feline leukaemia virus (FeLV) R.P. greater than or equal to 1.0.
Indications An inactivated vaccine for the active immunisation of kittens and cats 10 weeks of age or older against disease caused by feline leukaemia virus.
Contraindications Use in cats or kittens in ill health or with abnormal temperatures.
Precautions Animals under treatment with immunosuppressive drugs should be vaccinated with caution. Studies to support the use of the product in pregnant queens have not been conducted. Use before the expiry date marked on the label.
First aid. Self-injection. Accidental self-injection may lead to an inflammatory response, and medical advice should be sought on the management of deep injections, particularly those near a joint or associated with bruising. If possible the application of gentle squeezing pressure with absorbent material (e.g. facial tissues) at the injection site will swab up unabsorbed vaccine. Strong squeezing of the site should be avoided. The damaged area should be thoroughly cleansed and a topical antiseptic applied.
Disposal. Dispose of empty vial by wrapping with paper and putting in garbage. The plastic packaging is fully recyclable.
Discarded syringes and needles should immediately be placed in a designated and appropriately labelled sharps container.
Adverse Reactions Some animals may show transient postvaccination pain, malaise and depression. Allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis occur rarely and may require parenteral treatment with an antihistamine, a corticosteroid or adrenaline as appropriate. Local site reactions after vaccination are rare but transient swelling, pain and subcutaneous thickening may occur.
Dosage and Administration Shake the bottle well to obtain a uniform suspension of the vaccine before administration. The entire contents of the bottle should be used immediately after broaching. A new sterile syringe and needle should always be used to administer this vaccine.
Dose. 1 mL. Withdraw the contents of a single dose vial (1 mL) aseptically into a sterile syringe and inject intramuscularly (thigh) or subcutaneously.
Vaccination program. Fel-O-Vax Lv-K can be used on its own or as part of a standard vaccination program. Cats and kittens 10 weeks and older: initial vaccination course is two doses injected with a three to four week interval. Booster vaccination: an annual booster with a single dose of vaccine is recommended.
